How to run everyday

Following on from this post, things I find make it easier to run everyday:

  • Vary terrain. I mix pan-flat with hills and technical trails each week.
  • Do lots of easy running. Of course!
  • Follow a similar routine each week. I’ve gotten into trouble when I’ve gone too hard — because I felt good — on days I usually go easy, like Mondays.
  • Run knowing you’re going to run tomorrow. I.e. don’t go all out, even on hard days.
  • Run at the same time each day. That way you’re body knows by when it’s got be ready. If you run in the mornings, you can push run back to later in the day if you’re tired to give your body a few more hours recover.
  • Make Monday a check-in run. Show your brain everything in your body is how it should be.
